Our thanks to (then Minister for Planning,
now the NSW Premier) The Hon. Kristina Keneally
MP,
who approved the Grant of $30,000 as part of the NSW
Heritage Grants 2009-11 to enable completion of the
conservation of the 1890 French Puget Organ. In addition,
The Society of the Sacred Heart was granted a further
$10,000 “kick-start funding”.
This brings the number of Grants to three, totalling
$66,250, for the conservation of this instrument, recognising
its importance and uniqueness in Australian history.
It is also a tribute to The Society of the Sacred Heart
which has owned and cared for the organ since it was
installed in the Convent in Bordeaux in 1890 and subsequently
sent to Australia in 1904.
Organ Recital of the newly restored Puget
organ - details to be advised - please check the website
for updates at http://www.puget-organ-restoration.org.au/events/events.html
The organ was blessed by His Eminence
Cardinal George Pell AO on 10 September 2009 – Click
here to see photos and read details.
We are deeply grateful to all our donors,
pipe sponsors, concert attendees and well-wishers all
over the world, especially the very generous Alumnae,
parents and friends of Kincoppal-Rose Bay School of
the Sacred Heart and with love to the Religious of
The Society of the Sacred Heart whose prayers and encouragement
have ensured the success of this long, intricate and
costly project.
